At Dress Your Home, design work is billed at $150 an hour as a flat fee, with no markup. Hourly is our usual way of charging. For a full kitchen remodel, our rough answer is that a designer is going to cost about $5,000. Our Colleyville interior design studio is a full-service practice, and it takes on homes within a 30-mile radius across DFW.
A Colleyville remodel, a room or two at a time
Recently we have been working in Colleyville on a whole-home remodel, and we've been taking it a room or two at a time. On a project like that one, we're there daily, walking you through the work. We make sure the contractors show up and we answer the questions that come up, to make sure the job runs smoothly. If you're weighing a remodel of your own and want to talk through which rooms to start with, tell us about your home.
Two things to ask before you hire
Our advice is to ask any designer you're considering whether they will be there for the whole project, and whether they do any markup. Our own answer to the first question is yes: we stay on the project from start to finish. We cover more of what to ask in five questions to ask before hiring a designer.
How selections work
Kitchen selections fall under our Kitchen, Bath & Architectural Selections service. That list starts with tile and stone, and it runs through hardware and lighting to flooring and appliance selection. In one Colleyville bath renovation of ours, the beige tumbled tile came out, and in went blue stacked tile, a patterned floor and a mosaic niche framed in brass.
On a whole-home selection project, we plan two to four talks across about two weeks before any material is picked. On those projects, we track orders and follow up with vendors when ship dates slip, and we coordinate the install sequence with the builder. We pick hard finishes like flooring and cabinetry first and soft finishes like wall color and drapery second, and furniture and accessories come last. The reason is that a sofa chosen ahead of the final floor might not work in the room.

That photo is ours, from the Roseville Kitchen project, where soft gray cabinetry, honed quartz and a clean backsplash replaced heavy Tuscan finishes.
What clients and the studio say
A couple whose home needed significant updates said in a review that Veronica worked closely with the contractors to make sure every detail was completed to a high standard. One five-star Google review says Veronica knows the best places to shop and has strong relationships with key vendors, which the reviewer says meant better prices and service. Another five-star review says she is "amazing at working within different budgets." In a reply to a review, the studio wrote that it works to stay within budget without compromising on quality.
