Project Story

The Southlake Home Office That Became a Memory Room

A Southlake home office that holds a family's mementos by year, and the backyard the same clients asked the studio to design next.

For one Southlake family, Dress Your Home planned the home office interior design around what the family needed the room to hold. That meant an office that keeps their mementos, sorted by year.

The job: a Southlake office sorted by year

In the clients' new home in Southlake, Dress Your Home designed a home office that works as a year-by-year memory room. Every memento the family wanted to keep sits in that one room, separated by year. All of it stays open to view at any time. In a five-star Google review posted in July 2026, one of the clients wrote, "It is now my favorite room in the house." The studio's reply to that review says it was the first memory room it had created in 30 years of work. The clients then brought Dress Your Home back to design their backyard outdoor living space and pool area.

The couple came in with ideas of their own, and the same review credits Veronica with listening to them and then improving on them. She works across many styles, from California Coastal to Sophisticated Farmhouse.

Veronica founded Dress Your Home in 1993 and runs it from a studio in Colleyville. She is now in her sixth year working in the Southlake area, where the studio offers interior design for Southlake homes. If your office has to hold something only your family would think of, tell us about your home to start the conversation.

The backyard came next

The backyard and pool area are now where the Southlake clients entertain, according to their review. Repeat clients turn up in the studio's other reviews and replies too. Another reviewer wrote that Veronica has completely redone three of their houses.

In its review replies, the studio has said that conversational areas are something many people miss. It puts a high value on usable spaces where a family can make memories.

How the studio works on a project

Living room with custom built-ins and blue accents, with a home office opening off it
The Lakehouse living room and home office, designed by Dress Your Home

At The Lakehouse, a client's home, Dress Your Home did the full-service design, which included a living room with custom built-ins and an adjoining home office. The photo above is the studio's own, from that separate project. The living room there also carries blue accents. The Lakehouse is one of the Dress Your Home portfolio projects on the site.

Every project starts with conversation before anyone makes a concept board, a principle the studio calls Listen First. On a whole-home project that means two to four conversations over about two weeks, before a single material is chosen, about things like how the family cooks and whether the formal dining room really gets used.

Selections then happen room by room in a fixed order. Hard finishes such as flooring and cabinetry come first. Soft finishes such as wall color and drapery follow. Furniture and accessories come last.

The studio holds to that order because a sofa chosen before the floor is final can end up wrong for the room.

The studio stays with the job after the orders go in. It tracks each order and follows up with vendors when ship dates slip. On install day it is on site to hang the art and arrange the bookshelves, and it will swap out a throw pillow that turned out wrong. Veronica works hands-on and follows each project through to completion. Under the studio's Finish Completely principle, a project is done once the final details feel effortless.
