Westlake clients most often hire Dress Your Home for one or two rooms first. We've done a lot of homes in the area, and many times the work starts in one room and then moves on to another. In some of those homes, one of our favorite things to do is repurpose items the homeowner already owns. A whole-home project can take anywhere from a month to a year, depending on what the client needs. If you already have a first room in mind, tell us about your home and we'll start there.
Who does the work, and where
Westlake is one of the service areas listed on Dress Your Home's Google Business Profile, and we work at the client's location; there's no walk-in storefront. We run our Colleyville interior design studio as a full-service practice serving a 30-mile radius across DFW. The studio's three service groups include Whole-Home Design, which covers new builds, remodels and a refresh.
Why we work in this order
We make selections room by room in a set order. The hard finishes come first: flooring, cabinetry, counters, tile, plumbing and lighting. Soft finishes like wall color, drapery and rugs come next. Furniture and accessories wait until last, because when the sofa is chosen ahead of a final floor, it can end up not working in the room. Our article on how a whole-home selection project works goes into it further.

Some of the owners we work for have bought expensive furnishings and want a new look, so we take some of their existing pieces away and add some new ones, and the home can end up looking entirely new. A house can change that way in quick order. In our reply on one refresh, we wrote that editing the display lets each of the client's own pieces be seen individually.
That refresh began with a client who, according to her Google review, assumed her bookshelves needed more decor. Veronica took out some of the shelves instead, simplified the ones that stayed and rearranged pieces around the house that had gone visually stagnant, all with things the client already had.
Your first idea may change
Our advice is to keep an open mind and stay open to ideas. What you picture at the start isn't always what's best for your home. In a reply to one review, the studio wrote that clients who fully trust the designer, even when that pushes them out of their comfort zone, get the best outcomes.
When Veronica suggested taking out a wall for more space and natural light, another client hesitated, and that client's review says they're glad they did it. The studio's reply says the light now pours into that room from outdoors. In the end, we want your home to feel like a special place, a retreat.
One house, pulled together
For a North Richland Hills homeowner, we redesigned her kitchen, dining room and formal living room along with her office and living room, and pulled them into one look that flows through the house. Her daughter's room was next on the list, scheduled for fall 2026. Her review calls the studio organized and respectful of her budget.
Pace, and what finished means
We try to work quickly and efficiently, and quality work and happy clients matter a great deal to us. The studio counts a project as finished once the lighting, styling and final details feel effortless. On install day we're in the house, hanging the art and arranging the bookshelves.

In this photo of our Holloway Wine Lounge project, Dress Your Home handled a refresh plus the furnishings. Refresh, Furnishings & Styling is its own service group at the studio, and it runs from furniture selections to drapery and accessories.
Start with the first room
To see finished rooms before you call, look through our portfolio. When you know which room comes first, send a few details about your project and tell us what you'd like it to become. We'll be in touch within one business day to set up a time to talk.
